B.E.S.T.T.

I was fortunate enough to be accepted in the B.E.S.T.T.(Bridging the Educational Scene for Teachers of Tommorrow), program at the high school I attend. The program gives the students an opportunity to experience what it feels like to be a teacher. We tutor inner city students in second through eighth grade.

I had the pleasure of tutoring a young lady who was in the fifth grade. She was having problems with math and was afraid she would not be able to pass the state test. For several weeks I helped her study for her test and gave her the reassurance, if she continued to study real hard and had faith in God she would do great on her test.

Several weeks passed and one day, as I am coming to school for tutoring, I saw her running towards me. As I approached her she began yelling, "Miss Danielle!Miss Danielle! I passed my test. Thank you so much."

She hugged me so hard and I was so happy for her, I began to cry. Seeing the look on her face is one of the main reasons I want to be a teacher. I feel if I can make a difference in her life, I can make a difference in other childrens life also. One child at a time.
