Boyfriends and Girlfriends

In today's junior high and high schools, there is a lot of pressure about having a boyfriend or girlfriend. Today's world puts the wrong immpression on teens about having relationships.

Teenagers are learning too much, too fast. For example, when I was in 7th grade, I had a sleepover for my birthday. The girls that I had over were talking about different boyfriends they had had, first kisses, etc. Of course, I was completely ignorant to the subject because I had never had even one boyfriend before.

When they asked me if I had ever kissed a guy before, I told the truth. They seemed very suprised. "You haven't kissed anybody yet?" they all said. But that's just it. We were only in the 7th grade, and these girls were talking about kissing and boyfriends, when we should have been talking about movies or music.

I am now a sophmore in high school, and I have only had one boyfriend in my whole life. Up to this day, I still have not had my first kiss, but I don't think it is that big of a deal.

Society puts too much pressure on things such as relationships, sex, and numerous other topics. They should just back off, and let us be what we are: Teenagers who are learning the important things about life, love, friendship, and faith.
