Chasing That Cloud

It all unfortunately started on my visit to the UK during my third year at high school, where I fell in love with the fairy-tale architecture of London and their culture. Before I knew it, I was vowing that I would go back one day, and sit in my place there as a student, riding bicycles home, standing under the snow, reading literature books encompassed in dust.

Alas, I realized that such dreams are harder to attain than said from the heart. My parents advised me it was wiser to stay in Singapore where I could have a good and safe education, treasure my heritage, and enjoy what I find at home. But, it was easier said than thrown away; though words are seldom mentioned now, I still hold in heart the wish to go abroad one day and chase that dream which till now, remains pretty elusive.

I believe many students out there share my experience and heartfelt feelings, having that dream which everyone seems to go the other way to, having that faith which somehow, seems to be merely an illusion in air. However, it is worth dreaming, for dreams can come true.

There are people horrible at mathematics who still strive to become accountants, and people who faint at blood who want to be doctors. Who are you to say they don't stand that very chance? So from now, I shall work hard, stay happy, revel in my dreams, but work towards them realistically. Someday, I'll catch up with that cloud for a thrilling life-long ride.
