Eating

I sat in my room staring at a powerbar I had been saving for days. I had never had this problem before-I did not want to eat.

I felt like my life was in a rut, controlled by my parents, and there was nothing I could do. So one day, I stopped eating. I had a new-found power - my eating.

I liked this power so much I didn't eat the next day either. Thus began a long six month starvation that caused me to lose twenty pounds and a lovely athletic body.

I began to despise my parents more for their domination in my life. My average day was school, drink a coffee, go to work, and go to the gym. I worked out almost every night on an empty stomache.

Once my body would reach a high hunger point - I would eat, then usually throw up. My friends and family in my life began to notice and tried to help me, but I denied that anything was wrong.

It was my best friend that helped pull me out of that disease. Thanks to him, I can eat again and be myself. But I have ruined my health permanently because my starvation caused me to develop gallstones.

Because I was only seventeen, my parents decided not to have surgery to remove my gallbladder. So for the rest of my life, I will have to be careful of what I eat.

If I could have seen the consequences and known that I was beautiful the way I was, I never would have stopped eating. I wish I could go back and change it all.
