Going to the Movies

"Hey Brooks you want to go to the movies with us?" We all know how it is to be a freshman in high school. You finally leave a world of children with greasy skin and cracky voices, and dive in to a whole new realm of ADULTS!!! Or so I thought at the time.

"Of COURSE!" I responded enthusiastically. So there I was, a freshman, driving in the car with two juniors and a sophomore. And me, a greasy skinned, cracky voiced freshman. So after the most wonderfully exciting, socially invigorating car ride a freshman in high school could imagine, we arrived at the top floor of the parking structure. We were the only car on the top floor of the parking structure. This caught me as odd at first but I did not let it hinder my perfect evening.

Sitting in the back seat of a two-door car I was anxiously waiting to get out, to embark on the next part of our evening. But little did I know, the next part of their night was quite different from mine. The guy driving pulled out his pipe and a small bag of weed. "You want a hit?"

Suddenly I was hit with a speech impediment. My eloquent form of speech was reduced to a mere uh, umm, well, I, well, uh, no thanks. "You sure?" Once again. Uh, well my, um, I think I’ll just wait outside the car. So they let me out, and I sat, and waited, looked around, no cars, knocked on the window, smiled, laughed, looked around, SIRENS!!! Uhh guys the police are coming.

So they were way too slow to try and put away the pipe. They subordinated themselves to the authorities and confessed to everything. We were all read our rights, and then the driver of our party collapsed and started to seizure. So the policeman ran to the car and radioed for an ambulance.

The ambulance got there in no time at all and my new friend was taken away in a stretcher. The policeman called all of our parents. Shortly after, my parents came. We drove home. We did not say much but I know they were proud of me. Maybe disappointed that I chose such foolish friends but proud of me that I stuck to my morals.

So three of my "friends" were arrested and one of them spent the night in the hospital. I was just sad because I didn't get to go to the movie.
