Giving back

I feel that volunteers deserve a lot because they do a lot for others. There are many things that volunteers do to help people. They are helpful to us, through my view, because they positively affect our lives for the future.

To me, a volunteer is a great citizen who puts forth effort to help others live a better life. They choose to help us. Instead of doing something for pay, they make the choice of helping without receiving money for what they do. They put others before themselves.

Volunteers that I have encountered have donated their time, energies and talents to contribute to my life. By doing some of the things they do for me, it makes me feel better about myself. I am sure they make others feel the same.

They organize fund-raisers. They chaperone our field trips and sponsor clubs. They coach our sports teams and drill teams and help with donations and other programs. They also talk to us about their jobs and our interests.

By doing these things and more, volunteers have helped me realize that helping others should be a part of my life, as well. Volunteers encourage me to reach my goals. They influence me to become a volunteer and a better citizen. What volunteers do for us now will have an impact on our lives in the future. They guide most of us in the right direction. Volunteers who have changed lives deserve rewards. They are some of the greatest citizens around!
