Senior year Stresses

I think that this time of year is so stressful for teenagers my age. Or at least for me, this fall is bringing my stress levels high. School has just begun, therefore everyone is just getting settled.

Sports are in season and going full swing. Plus, there is the new experience of the college search. Much of my time is spent looking online for scholarships, colleges, majors and everything else I could possibly find for my future. It is sometimes rather difficult for me to focus. I play soccer, I am trying to keep my grades at an ultimate high, and I am involved with music and drama in my high school.

I also am involved with my church, my community and random activities within my home. It can get to be a hassle, so I can relate to the seniors this year who are trying their best to prepare for what next year has to bring.

Those who are younger than me keep saying how they cannot wait to be seniors. But it’s not always what it is cracked up to be. There is a constant flow of this growing-up process.

But I think it is a good thing for us to learn by, as we become young adults. We are becoming more independent and more responsible; or at least we are attempting to. But it is not always easy. Parents try to help, but sometimes they seem too forcing. We just have to remember to keep the main goal in focus. This is our future; we need to keep that in mind.

So to all of you out there who are applying to colleges right now, I feel your pain. But never give up. Although the times get rough, it will get easier. I am already seeing an easing as the applications get in the mail. The meetings at my school are slowly diminishing. Slowly, the stress levels die off. It only gets easier from here! So plan your future wisely, and do not get too caught in the moment. That is my advice to you all.
