Do you have a thought virus?

This silent biological virus has caused the underperformance of many excellent bio-computers. When you are infected by this virus, it prevents you from achieving excellent academic results. It causes disharmony in your relationships, whether they’re with your parents or your friends. It causes your parents to nag you. It is an obstacle to your full potential. It impacts all aspects of your life. What would you do if you knew that the underperformance of your computer was caused by a virus?
If antiviral software was available, you would immediately purchase and install the program so you could be working again, wouldn’t you?
Isn’t it strange, then, that lots of people will let the “thought virus” continue to damage the most powerful computer ever created without cleaning up, removing or quarantining the infected files?
The last 17 years of training students, young adults, teachers and professionals has shown me that many of these people could have achieved more if they had not allowed these thought virus to breed in all the different sectors of their bio-computer, the human brain. I can help you recognize the virus as the common basis of a self-defeating pattern and help you reprogram your bio-computer to keep the virus from entering your system.
First, let us do a quick review of the hardware (your brain) and see how it functions. Many articles and research show that the human brain is the most complex creation in the known universe. Our brain is made up of billions of brain cells called neurons. We each have an estimated 10 to 30 billion neurons. An average adult honeybee has only 7,000 neurons. With them it can build and maintain a honeycomb, calculate distance and signal to a companion where a pollen source is. We, on the other hand, have 10800 neuro connections. That’s 1 with 800 zeros behind it. It’s these neuro connections that determine our behaviors. The more connections we have, the smarter we become. The more you use your brain, the more neuro connections you’ll have. You become good at something when you use it. If you are lousy at something, you must do more of it. Learning a foreign language is a good example; you have to work hard to memorize words. But when you’re done, you will find that picking up the language a lot easier.
How do I know if my loved ones are infected with the thought virus? If you hear your friends or family continuously use phrases like “fine”, “OK” and “me too,” you know they’re in trouble. Answering a question with a one-word answer is the surest way to not stimulate your brain. You are asking your brain not to think. This stops your brain from making new connections, and it stops growing. The moment you shift the focus of your mind to a different perspective, more neuro connections are formed. People who are infected with this virus find it very difficult to get out of bad habits and reach out to greater height in whatever they want to do. At the end of the movie Rocky IV, a character says,“I can change. You can change. Everyone can change!” You, too, can change for the better.
