Summary
An automotive degree prepares students for the many entry-level opportunities that are available in the automotive industry. While studying, students will receive training in the areas of brakes, electrical systems, suspension, steering, transmission, heating and air conditioning, and engine repair, just to name a few. Upon graduating, students will be prepared to enter into automotive careers and fill many of the available openings in the industry for automotive technicians and service specialists.
Salary
The starting salary for an automotive technician is $27,000 per year, but after you begin acquiring real world experience you can expect to make as much as $46,000 per year.
Work Environment
Classes that lead to an automotive engineering degree include electrical engineering, powertrain systems, stress analysis, engine principles, fluid mechanics, electronic transmissions, mechanical engineering, and brake systems. Graduates with automotive engineering Masters degrees will understand how cars work, while also possessing a strong foundation in the fundamentals of engineering.
