Counseling Summary:
Mental health counseling involves working with individual patients, families, and groups to identify and treat mental or emotional problems. Counselors get trained in a number of therapeutic techniques used to address a variety of issues, such as depression, addiction, stress, aging concerns, job issues, educational guidance, parenting, and marriage or other relationship problems. Addictions counselors help individuals who have problems with alcohol, drugs, gambling, and eating disorders. They counsel individuals who are addicted to drugs, helping them identify behaviors and problems related to their addiction. These counselors treat individuals, families, or groups of people.
