Higher Education in Massachusetts Colleges
Massachusetts is the most populous of the New England states and contains the urban hub of Boston. While this may be a small state it still maintains a large population over 6 million residents. High-level educational institutions, Cape Cod, and thriving political scenes all characterize this Atlantic-bordering state. Never one to shy away from historical events, Massachusetts made international headlines when they became the only state in the nation to legalize gay marriage in 2006.
Massachusetts economy relies heavily on the areas of higher education, healthcare, financial services, and tourism. Since the state looks to continue its economic direction, degrees in these areas are expected to be extremely valuable. A sample of the state’s largest employers includes MA General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Laboratory for Nuclear Science, and MIT-Research Lab-Electronics. |
