Higher Education in Nevada Colleges
The state of Nevada has seen tremendous increases in population over the last decade. As more people move to the two major areas of the state, Las Vegas and Reno, this creates an additional need for educated employees in a multitude of areas. While the hotel industry dominates the landscape and includes some of the largest employers, they alone do not drive the employment availability. The largest employer in the state is the Clark County School District, located in Las Vegas. Other large employers include county governments, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and larger hotel and casinos.
Degrees in the areas of education, nursing, criminal justice, hotel administration, and management will be especially helpful in securing gainful employment. Over the last couple of years, the state has been experiencing critical shortages of qualified nurses and teachers, making a candidate with a degree in these areas very valuable. |
