Coming in last in terms of population, Wyoming is the home to a bare 509,294 people. Not that a visitor would notice anyway--a landscape of mountains and wide-open rangeland makes it difficult to find much of anything but peace and serenity. Students planning to attend Wyoming colleges may be attracted to the state's national parks--Grand Teton and Yellowstone being among the most famous.
Cheyenne is the home to the state capitol and numerous quaint shops and the famous Cheyenne Botanic Gardens. Casper is the state's second largest city. While travel/tourism and mineral extraction are Wyoming's main source of economic gain, several career fields look to be in especially high demand in the near future. For graduates of WY colleges, computer and software specialists, pharmacists, and physician assistants all fall into the hot job category.
