Online Medical Billing and Coding Schools educate students with the skills that will allow them to be able to organize and evaluate medical records for completeness and accuracy. This is done by making sure that patients’ initial medical charts are complete, that all forms are completed and properly identified and authenticated, and that all necessary information is in the computer.
One may choose to specialize in the process of coding patients’ medical information for insurance purposes. Those who choose this path are called health information coders, medical record coders, coder/abstractors, or coding specialists.
