Don't Wait 'til Last Minute

It's your junior year at high school. What do you have in store for this new school year? Maybe trying to get a job to save up some money for those senior events for next year? Or even trying to stay focused to keep that GPA on the right track.

Well let's add a little extra to your schedule. Preparing for college! Yes, you may think that it is way too early but, it helps take a load off your shoulders during your senior year, especially when senioritis starts to kick in. You might ask, "What should I do?”

At the beginning of your junior year you should begin to apply for scholarships that you are eligible for. There are plenty of scholarships for students as young as 13 so don't think you have to be in a senior to apply.

Next, you may want to search for colleges you would like to attend. Do research on estimated costs annually, what majors they offer and if it's what you are looking for. Also, write your college essays and resume early, have them reread by an English teacher or your advisor.

Finally, prepare for the SAT'S, and ACT'S. You may want to consider taking either or during your mid-junior year to see what subjects you need to enhance to receive the score you need. By preparing earlier than others sets you way ahead of the crowd and on top of the game.

Now when your senior year finally rolls around you'll be a little relieved from some of the stress. Remember your senior year is supposed to be the best and most memorable year. Don't get stuck with too much hard work. The best of luck!
