Cultural Diversity in School and Life

School is a place where you are supposed to learn and have fun. You are supposed to be safe from the outside world of fights, drugs or racism. In many schools this may be the case; a small school, or a school without much diversity, could be unaware to many problems that bigger schools face. The culture shock that kids may see is less than those of many large public or private schools.

The school I go to has a vast majority of cultures. With a senior class size around five hundred students the diversity is bound to be large and unique.

With so much diversity comes problems with communication and coexisting with one another. Being able to handle this in school helps you out greatly in the world outside of school. To be able to talk to people of different races, religions, and ethnic groups is a trait that everyone should obtain.

In the world, especially in today's society, you encounter people different than you on a daily basis.  Being able to experience this at a young age I find it a great building block in communicating to further my education and education of others around me.

Everyone should try to further their knowledge of the cultures and world around them. To be one-dimensional in that aspect of life would deprive you of much of what you need to succeed in life. My culture experiences have taught me to become a bigger and better person, and to be more aware of other people's feelings and not just my own.
