Brother To A Star

I was watching TV downstairs when suddenly the super sized sound of a guitar shot out of a speaker directly into my ears. I jumped up, not expecting it, my heart beating as fast as it could. Then I realized it was just my brother blasting his Blink 182 CD.

Once my heart slowed down to a normal pace, I yelled up to my brother, "Zach! Make your CD lower because I can't even hear the TV," but got no response. I yelled the same thing up again: "Zach! Make your CD lower. I can't even hear the TV." Still no response.

I knew he couldn't hear me over the thunderous sounds of guitars, drums, and song. I really see no point in listening to music this loud; all it sounds like is one big blob of instruments and a tiny voice in the background.

I know my brother is different from me, but there was no way he could actually understand the lyrics. I don't even think the members of Blink 182 would understand them at this decibel level.

I knew the only way I'd be able to watch TV again was to get my up lazy self up off the couch for once, go up to Zach's room, and lower it myself. As I got closer to his room, the music just kept getting louder.

It was a miracle the floor didn't give in because of all the vibrating going on underneath my feet. As I entered into his room, Zach didn't notice me, and that was a good thing.

I could walk right in because he feels it's not necessary to even close his door; forget about respecting other people trying to relax in peace and quiet inside of their own house.

It turned out to be good that I went up to Zach's room because the image I saw is one that'll stay with me for a long time: him jumping all over the place playing air guitar.

It was so funny that I almost collapsed onto the shaking floor. Just to see my brother jumping up and down, on the bed and off it, while yelling the words to songs at the top of his lungs was priceless.

The floor needed no more help in trembling, but my brother bouncing all over the room made the earthquake even worse. It actually looked as if some of the lights might fall out the ceiling downstairs.

I watched him for a couple of more minutes, until he saw me, and he went from Rock Star to cherry red like the Kool-Aid man.

From now on whenever I hear music blasting from my brother's room I make sure I run up to see if he is giving one of his performances. I wouldn't want to miss him if he dressed up like Leonardo DiCaprio to sign the Celine Dion song from Titanic!

So it's all good. My brothers' rock star persona has made me much less lazy, and always glad to see him. I'll just need to buy some earplugs -- or maybe a video camera.
