Criminal America: A Modern Lifestyle Modern America

A haven for the average human, we have endless supplies of cars, money, food, you name it. Unfortunately, the role of the "average human" has changed inconsistently in the past few decades. People have started to realize what they can and cannot get away with. For some people, this form of behavior has even become a lifestyle. I believe that in today's society, crime has become a major, if not the top, social problem today.

When you look at today's statistics from decades, even centuries back, you will definitely see a pattern at first. Of course crime existed back then. However, look closer at the statistics: Speakeasies don't exist anymore, treason and assassinations aren't too popular nowadays either. Crime is most certainly taking a turn for the worst nowadays, because it has evolved to what we know now as modern crime.

Today, crimes are committed about every 3 seconds. That is an outrageous number, especially to other countries with a much lower rate. You can blame it on many things: poverty, population density, urbanization, I blame it on corruption, simplicity, convenience. Far too many people are guilty of criminal activity nowadays, and what's worse is that far too many are getting away scot-free. Once again, I truly believe this is the highest problem in our society today, yet it is the least enforced.

I'd go as far to say as some serious crimes will be legal to commit in so many years, because so many people commit them. The moral fiber of our nation is destroyed, that cannot be rebuilt. However, there can be easier, yet more extreme solutions. People seem to believe that criminals can be reformed, re-introduced into society as equals, as if nothing happened. It does not take a rocket scientist to know that most people will go out and commit these same crimes again. Heck, most people that commit crimes never get caught. Is that the fault of society? Are there truly so many criminals that there simply isn't enough space for them to be detained? If that's the case, my outlook on this free, wondrous nation isn't going to be much better in the centuries to come. And luckily, none of us will be around to see it. Let freedom ring.yet another phrase that has become worn, even obsolete.
